2023 Health Achievements
Throughout 2023, we worked hard to make sure children were vaccinated, communities were informed and engaged, and our health workers were supported and trained to respond effectively to the needs on the ground.
Expanded Program on Immunization
One of our proudest achievements was vaccinating 11,945 children through our Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI). These efforts reached communities in Fangak County (Jonglei State), Leer County (Unity State), and Gogrial East County (Warrap State)—places where access to healthcare can be incredibly challenging.
Monitoring & Evaluation
Behind the scenes, our MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) team played a crucial role by keeping our reporting consistent and on time. They ensured that key health data and updates—including IDSR and EWARS reports, UNFPA kit usage, ActivityInfo data, GAVI/REACH project updates, and WHO core pipeline consumption reports—were shared regularly with the right partners.
Field Support & Capacity Building
We also stayed closely connected with our field teams by conducting supportive supervision four times a year for several projects like SSHFSA1, GAC, GAVI, BHAP1, and BHAP2, and additional field visits for SSHFA4 and SSHRA5. These visits helped us identify challenges early and provide hands-on support.
Training and capacity building were key pillars of our work. Every quarter, we conducted sessions for field staff and community members. Topics ranged from HIV/AIDS awareness and mental health support to community engagement, immunization practices, and COVID-19 response. These trainings helped strengthen both our teams and the communities they serve.
To keep everyone informed, we regularly shared weekly and monthly updates, including photos and bulletins, with partners and the wider health cluster. This helped maintain transparency and collaboration.
Finally, our M&E team made sure that all our field teams had the tools they needed to report accurately and on time—whether it was for weekly updates, monthly reports, or quarterly reviews.
Our Continued Commitment
Overall, 2023 was a year of dedication, learning, and progress. We're proud of what we accomplished together and remain committed to continuing this important work—ensuring health services reach every person, no matter where they live.
